About Us

The Perinton Concert Band represents a tradition of fine band music in the Perinton area. Each week during the school year, the members of the PCB gather to rehearse a wide range of the best music in band literature. The off-stage lives of the more than 50 band members reflect a cross-section of ages, occupations, and backgrounds.

History of the Band

For 30 years, the Perinton Concert Band has entertained audiences of all ages and backgrounds. Developed by a cadre of local musicians who were frustrated by the lack of musical opportunities in the community, the Perinton Concert Band has flourished into one of the finest ensembles in the Northeast. The band claims teachers, engineers, homemakers, accountants, landscapers, and other professionals among its ranks. Many members are from the Town of Perinton; however, members hail from areas ranging from Liverpool to Penn Yan, and Brockport to Medina. All are united by their love of music and performing quality programs for the community.

Each season, which runs from September to early June, the band performs some of the best literature for concert bands, and regularly features guest artists of national and international stature. Past concert selections have included orchestral transcriptions, medleys from popular Broadway shows and movies, traditional marches, band classics, and fine contemporary compositions. Averaging three to four formal concerts per season, the band also plays at several outdoor venues such as the Perinton Center Stage Amphitheater Concert Series and the Fairport Gazebo Series. In addition to these live performances, the band produced a CD of popular band music in 1996 (which has since sold out),  one of popular movie themes, which was released in 2001, and our brand new CD of seasonal holiday music that was recorded and released in 2006.

Rich in their diversity and universal in their passion for fine music, the members of the Perinton Concert Band enjoy sharing the music they make with all who pause to listen.
